Elizabeth’s House is a retreat center along the

North Shore of Long Island.

If you know the Bible story of what happens before Christmas,

Mary goes to her cousin’s house and shares the dilemma

and drama of her surprising pregnancy.

Her cousin Elizabeth is an aged and wise woman who is also pregnant (She is bearing the future John the Baptist).

Elizabeth provides gracious hospitality for Mary during this time of change and discernment in young Mary’s life.

This type of unconditional love and non-judgmental emotional support expresses the philosophy of hospitality among the sisters at the Elizabeth’s House retreat center.
