Pastoral Training is part of Sister Pat’s LifeThread.
This Wednesday, I was working with a Pastoral Formation Training Group. We have been talking about Disaster Mental Health and Spiritual Care. They are preparing to participate in workshops that will give them some training, and credentials, to work in pastoral settings.
Since we are New Yorkers, 9/11 and the TWA 800 plane crashes are fresh in our minds. As a member of the Disaster Mental Health Leadership Team of the Red Cross of Greater N.Y., I have been at many disaster sites. I didn’t expect that, the day after discussing ‘real experiences,’ we would experience one.
We pray for the victims of all disasters and for those “responders” who walk with them.
